Sculpted by Aimee Cream Cushion Foundation Review

· ·

If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know that Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow has been my everyday base for years. It’s the one I reach for on school runs, office days, and those mornings when I’ve only got five minutes to pull myself together. But sometimes I want just a touch more coverage and polish, something still lightweight but a little more “put-together.”

Enter the Sculpted by Aimee Cream Cushion Foundation.

Sculpted by Aimee Cream Cushion Foundation

TL;DR – Is It Worth It?

Yes, if you’re looking for a lightweight, buildable cushion foundation that feels like skincare and makeup in one. It gives sheer-to-full buildable coverage, blends seamlessly (even over dryness or irritation), and works brilliantly for on-the-go touch-ups. If you’re very oily or prefer full glam coverage, this one might not be your best fit.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Sheer-to-full, buildable coverage
  • Skin-like finish — polished but breathable
  • Doesn’t cling to dry patches or irritate sensitive skin
  • Compact, refillable packaging with a mirror
  • Touch-ups blend in seamlessly
  • Available in 30 shades
  • SPF 30 included

Cons

  • Not designed for very full coverage lovers
  • Oily skin types may need blotting or setting powder
  • Smaller size (15ml vs 30–45ml in Sculpted’s other foundations)
  • Puff and mesh need regular cleaning to stay hygienic

What Makes It Different

Sculpted by Aimee took clear inspiration from K-beauty cushion compacts, which are loved for their portability, hydration, and natural finish. The Cream Cushion Foundation brings that same idea into a refillable compact, enriched with:

  • Niacinamide – supports skin barrier and helps even tone
  • Glycerin – hydrates and keeps skin comfortable
  • Longwear polymers – help the formula grip for longer wear
  • SPF 30 – added protection (but don’t skip your daily sunscreen)

The mesh delivery system also keeps things neat; just press out what you need, with no messy spills, and you’re set for handbag-friendly touch-ups.

First Impressions & Packaging

Best cushion foundation

The rounded pastel compact with a mirror has a nostalgic, almost Polly Pocket vibe; playful and girly, but still functional. It’s the first product I’ve opened in ages that actually gave me a proper rush of excitement. It reminds me of my baby pink flip phone circa 2004!

Inside, shade 4N (light with neutral undertones) immediately looked promising, not too pink, not too yellow. On application, it felt silky, lightweight, and blended easily, whether I used the included puff, a sponge, or a brush.

I’m currently dealing with a perioral dermatitis flare-up, so I was nervous about trying something new. To my surprise, the Cream Cushion Foundation didn’t cause any irritation at all. In fact, it did a brilliant job of covering up the redness without clinging too badly to dry patches.

Coverage & Finish

If you love Tint & Glow like I do, here’s where the two diverge:

  • Tint & Glow = sheer, fresh, tinted-moisturiser feel
  • Cream Cushion Foundation = one step up, with buildable coverage and a smoother, more polished finish

It’s still natural and skin-like; not flat matte, but not overly dewy either. It evens tone, reduces redness, and layers well without looking cakey.

Performance & Wear

The standout feature for me? How well it works for top-ups. Most foundations look patchy if reapplied after powder or blush, but this compact layers beautifully. A quick press with the puff and it melts in without disturbing what’s underneath.

My wear test highlights:

  • Comfortable all day, even during a skin flare-up
  • Still looked fresh after 6+ hours (though I’d blot if I was oilier or in hot weather)
  • Worked seamlessly with blush, bronzer, and powder
  • Touch-ups added polish without weight

For busy mums or anyone on the go, that’s a game-changer.

Packaging, Refills & Hygiene Considerations

Here’s where a few practical things are worth mentioning:

Product Control: At first, I found it tricky to judge how much foundation I was pressing out with a brush on the mesh. I imagine this will get easier with more use, but it’s a small learning curve compared to a traditional pump.

Size vs Value: The compact only holds 15ml of product for £28. That’s quite a bit less than Sculpted’s other bases — HydraTint (30ml), Tint & Glow (45ml), and Satin Silk (30ml). I’m not sure yet how long the compact will last with regular use, but it’s worth noting. On the plus side, you can buy refills for £25, which helps.

Hygiene: The included puff is handy, but I’m not sure how easy it will be to keep clean long term. The same goes for the mesh cushion; as fun as it is to dip your brush in, I imagine it could get messy. Personally, I think I’ll use a clean finger to press out product onto the back of my hand, then use my usual brush.

Value Takeaway:

  • If cost-per-ml is your priority, Tint & Glow is the best value.
  • For higher coverage, Satin Silk or Second Skin offer more product at similar prices.
  • The Cream Cushion is pricier per ml, but you’re paying for convenience and portability.

Who Will Love It

This foundation is perfect if you:

  • Want natural, everyday coverage that’s easy to touch up
  • Have normal to dry or combination skin
  • Like handbag-friendly products for work, travel, or school runs

Who Might Skip It

You might prefer one of Sculpted’s other bases if you:

  • Want full, event-ready coverage
  • Have very oily skin and prefer a matte finish
  • Want the best value per ml

The Sculpted by Aimee Cream Cushion Foundation has quickly earned its place in my makeup bag. It’s lightweight, buildable, inspired by the best of Korean beauty, and comes in a compact that’s fun to use.

Most importantly, it covered redness smoothly without aggravating my sensitive skin, and even worked for midday touch-ups. My only hesitations are the smaller product size, refill cost, and hygiene upkeep.

That said, it bridges the gap beautifully between sheer tint and heavier foundation. If you’re looking for a natural, breathable, handbag-friendly base, this one is well worth trying.

I’ll keep testing it and update this post in a few weeks with any extra insights.
