Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow vs. Vieve Complexion Balm: Battle of the Lightweight Bases

·

Last Updated on October 16, 2024 by Amy

I haven’t reached for a traditional foundation in years. Since becoming a mum, I need something quick to apply but tough enough to last through a busy day. While my pre-kids foundation test was a night out on the dancefloor, these days it’s more about surviving a few sweaty hours at soft play! I’ve put both of these products to the test—more times than I’d like to admit—and they’ve both passed with flying colours.

Sculpted by Aimee’s Tint and Glow has been my everyday go-to for years. But when Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm launched, I couldn’t resist trying it out. After weeks of wear, I’m ready to break down how these two compare.

Both promise a radiant, natural finish, but they each bring something different to the table. If you’re wondering which one will fit into your routine, this side-by-side comparison will help you choose the best match for your needs.

Sculpted by Aimee Tint and Glow tinted moisturiser

What is it? A tinted moisturiser with SPF, offering light coverage and a radiant finish.

Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm Review

Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm foundation

What is it? A hybrid foundation with medium, buildable coverage and a fresh, natural finish.

Key ingredients: Niacinamide for improving skin tone, polyglutamic acid for hydration, and vegan collagen to boost plumpness.

Best for: A natural look with more coverage and added skincare benefits.

Texture & Application

Sculpted by Aimee Tint and Glow

Tint & Glow has a lightweight, creamy texture that blends easily into the skin, making it perfect for busy mums like me. You can apply it with your fingers or a brush for a quick “your skin but better” finish. It melts into the skin effortlessly with minimal blending.

Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm

Vieve’s Balm feels slightly more luxurious with a thicker texture, offering more coverage but still blending seamlessly into the skin. You get a “second skin” effect that evens out your complexion but remains lightweight.

Coverage & Finish

Tint and Glow
Complexion Balm

Sculpted by Aimee Tint and Glow

  • Coverage: Light—enough to even out skin tone but not to cover blemishes.
  • Finish: A glowing, dewy finish that leaves you looking fresh-faced and radiant.

Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm

  • Coverage: Light to medium, and buildable—perfect for those days when you need more coverage without the heaviness of a traditional foundation.
  • Finish: Dewy but more refined, with a bit more coverage than Tint & Glow.

Longevity & Wear Test

Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow

Despite its lightweight formula, Tint & Glow holds up well throughout a busy day, but you might need a midday touch-up if you have oily skin. For a lightweight product, it’s impressive, but for long, active days, it may require setting with powder.

Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm

Vieve’s Complexion Balm lasts longer, even through sweatier, more demanding days like school runs or chasing kids at soft play. It can be difficult to find a dewy finish foundation that doesn’t feel greasy but this stays put and doesn’t settle into fine lines. However, I do still need a dusting of powder on the t-zone of my oily-combination skin.

Shade Range & Inclusivity

Both products offer 20 shades. Due to their lightweight formulas, they adapt well to different skin tones, which gives you some flexibility when picking a shade.

  • Sculpted by Aimee: I use shade 4 (light with neutral undertones).
  • Vieve: I use shade 210 (medium golden), which looked too yellow initially, but blended out perfectly!

Tip: Vieve’s website has a handy shade finder that lets you input your current shade in other products to find your perfect match. Sculpted by Aimee also offers a shade quiz, but I found it less accurate—luckily, I live near a store where I could swatch in person!

Packaging & Price

Both products come in sleek, portable tubes with nozzles, making them practical for travel or tossing into a bag. While not super luxurious, the packaging is durable, which is a bonus when you’ve got kids (or a cat prone to knocking things over!). I learned my lesson a few years ago when my cat shattered a brand-new bottle of Armani Luminous Silk all over the bathroom floor—he was definitely in the bad books for a while after that!

  • Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow: £23—a great value for a product that combines skincare, sun protection, and makeup in one.
  • Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm: £35—a bit pricier, but offers more coverage and additional skincare benefits.

Who Should Buy Which?

  • Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow: Best for those who prefer a quick, fuss-free routine. If you love a light, natural glow and minimal makeup, this is for you.
  • Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm: Ideal if you need more coverage but still want to keep that natural, radiant finish. Great for those who want a product that blurs the line between makeup and skincare.

Final Verdict

Both Sculpted by Aimee’s Tint & Glow and Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm have a place in my routine. For everyday, quick application, I reach for Tint & Glow. It is by far the best tinted moisturiser I have ever tried and will always be in my makeup bag. When I need more coverage for a busy, active day or a special occasion, Vieve’s Complexion Balm is my go-to.

In a nutshell:

  • Quick, light, natural look: Sculpted by Aimee Tint & Glow.
  • Buildable coverage with skincare benefits: Vieve Skin Nova Complexion Balm.
