A Lightweight Moisturiser That Doesn’t Skimp on Hydration
The texture is what first stood out to me. It’s a true gel-cream—light, refreshing, and quick to sink in. There’s no greasy film, no stickiness, and no feeling like your face has been coated in product. For me, it strikes that hard-to-find balance between enough hydration and a barely-there feel.
If your skin leans oily or acne-prone, this will likely suit you really well. It delivers moisture without adding shine and hasn’t caused any breakouts on my combination skin. I’ve found it works beautifully under makeup too, making it a strong choice for a morning routine.
However, if your skin is very dry—particularly in the winter—you may need to layer this over a richer, hydrating serum to get the nourishment you need.
What’s Inside: Barrier-Boosting Ingredients That Work
Tri-Ceramide Complex
A blend of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids—ingredients your skin naturally needs to stay healthy. This complex helps to restore the skin barrier, lock in moisture, and protect against environmental stress. It’s a great inclusion if your skin is easily irritated or feeling compromised.
Niacinamide
A multitasking ingredient known for calming redness, improving uneven skin tone, and strengthening the skin barrier. It also helps regulate oil production, making it ideal for combination or blemish-prone skin.
Green Tea Extract
A soothing antioxidant that helps reduce inflammation and protect the skin from environmental damage. It also adds a gentle layer of hydration, helping your skin look fresher and more awake.
These ingredients work together to hydrate, calm, and protect without overwhelming the skin—especially useful if you’re dealing with both sensitivity and oiliness.
My Experience: Two Bottles In and Still Reaching for It
I’ve now repurchased the Byoma Moisturizing Gel Cream twice, which says a lot. I use it most mornings, especially in the warmer months, when I want something that feels light but still does the job.
At 35, I’m probably not the core Gen Z target market for Byoma, but I’ve been genuinely impressed with everything I’ve tried from the brand so far. Their Creamy Jelly Cleanser has been a staple in my routine for months, and the Face Mist pairs beautifully with this moisturiser if you want an extra boost of hydration without adding heaviness.
I love that my skin feels calm, balanced, and hydrated after using it—without any extra shine or congestion. It also hasn’t caused any breakouts, which is always a concern for me with new moisturisers.
Any Drawbacks?
A couple of things to note. The pump packaging has had some negative feedback in the past, although I haven’t personally had issues with the more recent version. It also runs out fairly quickly—I usually need 2–3 pumps per use, so the 50ml bottle doesn’t stretch as far as some thicker creams.
And as mentioned earlier, if you have very dry skin, this may not provide quite enough on its own in the colder months.
Where to Buy
This Byoma moisturiser is available at Space NK for £12 or Target for $14.
