Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Review: Honest Results After 8 Weeks

· ·

Most peptide serums promise firmer, smoother skin and then deliver little more than hydration. In your 30s and beyond, especially if you use retinoids or exfoliating acids, the real challenge is not chasing dramatic overnight results. It is finding products that improve skin quality without compromising the skin barrier.

That is why I was interested in Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP, an upgraded version of the original Liquid Peptides, positioned as a high-strength peptide serum that also prioritises hydration, comfort and barrier support. I have a real soft spot for Medik8 as a brand and have used their products for years with consistently good results. If I had to pick just one skincare brand to use long term, this would probably be it.

I am in my late 30s, use retinoids regularly, exfoliate weekly and have a history of perioral dermatitis. My skin is combination-oily, prone to dehydration and reacts quickly when a formula is too aggressive.

If a product is likely to sting, clog or disrupt my barrier, my skin usually makes that clear early on.

This serum did not.

Medik8 Liquid Peptides review

What Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Is Designed to Do

Liquid Peptides Advanced MP is designed to support collagen production, improve firmness, boost hydration and strengthen the skin barrier. Unlike many peptide serums that focus only on anti-ageing claims, this one places equal emphasis on skin comfort and long-term resilience.

It is fragrance-free, alcohol-free and suitable for daily use. The texture is extremely fluid, closer to an essence than a traditional serum, and it layers easily under both active treatments and makeup.

This is not a rich or occlusive product, and it is not meant to feel heavy on the skin.

Key Ingredients and What They Actually Do

Dual MiniProteins Technology

Purpose: address expression lines and deeper structural ageing

Medik8 uses two targeted MiniProteins rather than a single peptide approach.

Expression Line MiniProtein
Designed to help soften the appearance of dynamic expression lines caused by repeated facial movement, particularly on the forehead and around the eyes. This works gradually and is more preventative and refining than corrective.

Growth Factor MiniProtein
Designed to support the skin’s natural collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid levels. The aim here is long-term improvement in firmness, bounce and skin density rather than short-term plumping.

Together, these focus on surface smoothness and deeper skin structure with consistent use.

30% Multi-Peptide Complex

Purpose: improve firmness, texture and long-term skin resilience

The formula contains a 30% multi-peptide complex made up of 13 peptides, including copper peptides and Matrixyl 3000. This blend is designed to support skin repair, improve firmness and refine overall texture.

Peptides do not replace retinoids or in-clinic treatments. Their value lies in consistency and cumulative improvement rather than dramatic transformation.

Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin

Purpose: immediate hydration and smoother skin appearance

These ingredients draw water into the skin, providing instant hydration and subtle plumping. This is responsible for the immediate glow and smoother makeup application that many people notice early on.

Barrier-Supporting and Comfort Ingredients

Purpose: support tolerance and reduce irritation risk

Liquid Peptides Advanced MP includes several ingredients that support barrier function and skin comfort:

  • Panthenol to soothe and support barrier repair
  • Tocopherol as an antioxidant
  • A prebiotic complex including inulin to support the skin microbiome
  • Humectants such as glycerin and sodium hyaluronate to maintain hydration

These do not replace a rich barrier cream, but they make this serum particularly suitable for use alongside retinoids and exfoliating acids.

Texture and Finish

The texture is very thin and fluid. It absorbs within seconds, leaves no residue and has no fragrance.

In real-world use:

  • It does not pill under SPF
  • It does not interfere with foundation
  • It remains comfortable during long makeup days
  • It does not sting on post-exfoliation skin
  • It does not feel greasy on combination-oily skin

This makes it especially easy to use in the morning under sunscreen.

Who This Serum Is Best For

  • Skin in the early to mid-30s and beyond, showing fine lines or loss of bounce
  • Dehydrated skin that looks dull or feels tight
  • Retinoid users who need extra hydration and barrier support
  • Makeup wearers who want a smoother base application
  • Sensitive skin that does not tolerate aggressive actives
  • Botox users, as Medik8 suggests this may help prolong neurotoxin results

Who Should Probably Skip It

  • Anyone expecting fast or dramatic wrinkle reduction
  • Anyone on a strict budget
  • Very acne-prone skin that reacts badly to glycerin-heavy formulas
  • Anyone already using multiple peptide serums with similar claims

This is not an essential product if your routine is already peptide-heavy.

How to Use Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP

Apply after cleansing and before moisturiser. One to two pumps is enough.

Morning routine:
Cleanse → Liquid Peptides → Moisturiser → SPF

Evening routine:
Cleanse → Liquid Peptides → Retinoid or treatment → Moisturiser

It layers well with vitamin C, retinoids, exfoliating acids, niacinamide and hydrating toners.

My Results After 8 Weeks

Weeks 1 to 2:
Immediate improvements in hydration, comfort and overall skin softness. No irritation, no congestion and no barrier disruption.

Weeks 3 to 5:
Skin texture began to look smoother and more even. Makeup applied better and sat more evenly throughout the day.

Weeks 6 to 8:
Noticeable improvement in glow and subtle plumpness. Fine lines around my eyes and mouth softened slightly, though this was not dramatic. The biggest improvement was in overall skin quality rather than wrinkle depth.

This product does not transform your skin overnight. It gradually improves how your skin looks and behaves over time.

One of the biggest positives is that it did not trigger my perioral dermatitis at all. I have used it consistently alongside retinol and exfoliating acids without irritation. On retinol nights in particular, it helps buffer dryness without dulling results.

At this point, it feels like a long-term staple rather than a product I will rotate in and out.

Medik8 vs The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum + HA

The Ordinary Multi-Peptide Serum is a solid entry-level peptide option and far more affordable. I had just finished a bottle when I started using Medik8, which made comparison easy.

The Ordinary provides hydration and comfort but tends to plateau quickly. Medik8 delivers more visible refinement in glow, plumpness and texture over time. The Medik8 texture is also significantly more elegant, absorbing faster and leaving no tackiness.

If budget is your priority, The Ordinary is a good starting point. If visible skin quality improvement and better makeup performance matter more, Medik8 is the clear upgrade.

Is Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP Worth the Price?

This is a premium peptide serum. You are paying for a high-strength peptide blend, a refined formula and excellent compatibility with active routines.

Medik8 claims one bottle provides around 80 uses. When broken down monthly, the cost becomes more reasonable, particularly if it replaces multiple hydrating or plumping serums. In my routine, this could realistically replace most other serums and help streamline product overload.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Lightweight, non-sticky texture
  • Layers well under SPF and makeup
  • Very gentle and suitable for sensitive skin
  • Supports skin alongside retinoids
  • Visible glow and plumpness over time
  • High formulation quality

Cons

  • Premium price point
  • Results require consistency
  • Glass bottle is not ideal for travel
  • Easy to overuse due to fluid texture
  • Not necessary if you already use multiple peptide products

If your goal is to improve overall skin texture, hydration, firmness and glow without irritation, Medik8 Liquid Peptides Advanced MP delivers exactly that. It will not replace retinoids or provide dramatic wrinkle reversal, but as a long-term skin quality enhancer that supports an active routine, it performs exceptionally well.

This is a product for people who value consistency, tolerance and refined results rather than quick fixes.
